Books Cleanup
This books cleanup project was for a mid-sized logistics company struggling with years of disorganized financial records in Sage. The primary objective was to bring the accounting system up to date, resolve discrepancies, and establish a foundation of accuracy for ongoing reporting and compliance.
I started by conducting a full diagnostic review of Sage transactions, identifying duplicates, misclassified entries, and reconciliation gaps. I corrected historical balances, adjusted journal entries, restructured the chart of accounts, and reconciled all bank and credit card statements. A special focus was placed on cleaning aged payables and receivables, aligning opening balances, and ensuring all tax liabilities were accurately reported.
With the data cleaned, I also created closing procedures for the client to follow monthly, improving financial discipline and audit readiness. The restored records not only allowed for proper financial statements but also gave management confidence to make strategic decisions and file taxes without error or delay.
